Will Lame Ducks Try To Kill Embryos By Attacking Dickey Wicker?

Any of you who have followed the recent ruling by US District Court Judge Royce Lamberth concerning stem cell research have got to know that  the left is not done trying to expand their “right” to kill the unborn.

The ruling, which came Monday, August 23rd, put a stop to not only Barry’s broadening of the research to scores of new “lines”, but also could and would retroactively put a stop to those which President Bush allowed during his tenure. “This decision has just poured sand into the engine of discovery,” said Francis Collins, Director of the NIH (National Institutes of Health).

We can debate the ethics and morals of such moves ad infinitum, but the basic tenet of our congress has been, over the years, that public monies should never be used to end the life of a human embryo. Period. You can see it in the Hyde amendment, which normally prevents the use of public funds for elective abortion; as well as in the Dickey Wicker Amendment, which was introduced as an appropriations bill rider passed by congress in 1995, and signed into law by President Clinton which prohibits the creation or destruction of human embryos for scientific research.

Dickey who? What did you call me?

Who comes up with these bill names? I know that they are named usually after the congressmen/women that introduce them, but come on… Dickey Wicker?

Judge Lamberth, in his decision on Monday, was relying on the Dickey Wicker rider. (Man, I am gonna laugh). What I am astonished about is, how in the heck did Obama and Holder think they would survive this legal test? Are they that inept, or just that bold? Did they research what the law said before Barry rushed in immediately after his inauguration and gleefully tried to please the left with his executive order?

Think about it though. This should not be surprising. Barry doesn’t think a lot of things through. Look at GITMO. Look at the Arizona immigration bill. He doesn’t generally tend to do research before he jumps forward. Hell, they don’t even really read things like the stimulus and health care bills before they vote on them.

But I digress.

Congress, a left leaning congress, has twice tried to pass legislation that would circumvent Dickey Wicker, and thus broaden the ability to glean stem cells from human embryo lines. Bush vetoed them, twice. With a democrat held congress, and White House, what do you think their response will be to the Judges decision when the come back into session? You bet… they are going to try to ram it through before they get their asses voted out of power.

Or- will they?

There are many democrats who don’t want to touch this issue, considering its hot-button nature. Who can blame them? They already have addressed a multitude of issues against the will of the people, which will result in a landslide sized tipping of the scales this November, which essentially makes all of them lame ducks even before a vote is cast.

I predict that they will not have the support to pass anything which will overturn the Judges ruling, because they would rather not expose their political ideologies at this point. Barry ran and got into office by being selectively deceitful. He fooled millions. But the left will likely not be able to muster the gumption to take this swipe at the ethics of life, not because they don’t believe in it, but because they want to have hope they won’t have their hats handed to them come election time.
