Time To Wipe The Sphincter

As Barry signs into law the biggest spending bill of our nation’s history, I think it is time to reflect on the missed opportunity for Arlen Sphincter, Olympia Snowe-job, and Susan Cave-in, to demand that more be changed in the bill before passage. How these three dimwits missed the fact that they had the President’s precious “Screw-U.S.” bill by the proverbial cajones is beyond me.

Collins is starting a new 6 year cycle, so she’s moot. Snowe is up for re-election in 2012, and not likely to be an easy target. But Sphincter is up next year, and I think it is time for Sphincter to get wiped.

As you all know, all three jumped party lines to allow perhaps the biggest mistake in our legislative budgetary history to be made. Even China knows this is going to devalue our dollar, as we will have to print money, and inflation in the future will escalate to pay this debt down. I’m no fan of China, but it is worth noting this as they are holders of a LOT of our debt, in the form of T-bills. Basically, what they are saying is, “We know our investment in your country just dwindled because you’re stupid enough to think you can spend your way out of this with printed money.”

In other words, China called Obama’s plan “stupid”.

Let’s note, also, that Obama RUSHED this through like an organ transplant, but then waited DAYS to sign it. It just had to happen immediately, if not sooner… but, of course, once it is done and the public sentiment doesn’t matter anymore, well, we can take our time now.

That is what was happening- the bill itself was losing steam, and as the public became more aware of the pork, and lies about pork, and the actual long term cost was being laid out in terms that are more digestible for those of us that aren’t economic whizzes, Obama realized that time was his enemy. Time was akin to overturning rocks. Time was exposing the lies, and reality.

None of this would matter, however, if we had three more backbones in the congress. Out of 219 Republicans in congress, 3 had to vote for it, and make it possible. Three.

Of the comments issued by all three after the stimulus was passed, I think Sphincter’s are the most laughable. He sounds like someone trying to convince his friends to like him again, and that he just had no choice.

Sphincter:

“My preference would have been John McCain’s proposal, which I voted for, to have the stimulus package of $421 billion in tax cuts alone. I voted for the Reagan tax cuts back in 1981 and that would be the best course, but in a legislative body you don’t have exactly your own choice.”

Nice job trying to “remind” us that you’re a Republican. Won’t work. And, in case it escaped your feeble mind, when you are one of the THREE needed to pass a bill, guess what? You DO have your own choice. You have the ability to say “I will not vote for this unless the pricetage is reduced, the tax cuts are increased, the pork is taken out, and a couple more days is spent fixing those issues.”

This fool did not even realize he had the power to stop this on his own. He had more power than Obama, on this one.

“I voted for it with reservations, as I have commented. One was I didn’t like the speed of the operation. When President Obama came to talk to the Republican Caucus and my turn came for a question I said, ‘Why the haste? Why do you have to move ahead on February 13?’ I reminded him of the bailout package of $700 billion where mistakes were made because the legislature didn’t go through what we call ‘regular order.’ The President responded that there was an emergency and that we had to act. Another factor which concerned me was that there is a good bit in this bill which should be in the regular appropriations process – important healthcare and education projects, but they ought to be in the regular budget where we establish overall spending and then make a determination of priorities.”

These are the words of a weak man who thinks that a compromise had to be struck, but failed to recognize that he had the power, yes power, to make a lot of the changes he mentions about actually happen. Now he is trying to make us all believe he is truly a fighter, even after he just allowed himself to be rolled over. you cannot simply say “I didn’t like this and didn’t like this and didn’t like that, but heck, what could I do? I had to do SOMETHING…” Poor logic. Poor leadership.

I wonder if we can bring back Toomey to run against him again.

Sphincter is up for re-election next year. I say we send him packing. I don’t care, even, if that means a Democrat wins. It couldn’t be worse than it is now.

And seriously… If you live in a State where your money would be wasted on Senate races, consider supporting Sphincter’s opponent, and tossing some cash at whoever that is.

And contact the RNC chair to tell them your wishes as well. Surely Chairman Steele is aware of this, but it is good to make sure the point gets driven home.

Good article. I agree with you that he has NO business being in office. I, personally, am so tired of the politicians not listening to what the people are saying. In less than one month, I’m already tired of this administration. Another 3 years and 11 months?
