Conservative Blog Political Potpourri, 11/09/08

Well, here we are. I wonder how many people are just waking up, asking out loud “We elected WHO??!!”

Exactly. Except, most of us were wondering this before the election. At least, those of us who are not prone to be constantly captivated by CSI and American Idol or Survivor.

So what can we expect? Long term? Short term? What will change and what is on the radar?

Let’s start with the most important bit of decision making on Obama’s plate.

The Canine Conundrum

Selecting the ever important White House dog

I’m not sure how this tradition started. Probably long before PETA, though. I am glad that Obama is starting out small and building up confidence, however.

Some Presidents have dogs, some have had tiger cubs, horses, guinea pigs, snakes and rats (surely liberals) and even a turkey. Yes, the White House turkey pardoning is a annual re-enactment of the salvation of one of our President’s pets. Well, it was the pet of Lincoln’s son, 10 year old Tad.

Obama surely will have a team of bipartisan professionals in order to help him make such an important and monumental decision. Personally, were he to seek my advice, I would ask that he consider an animal that bites, since most likely, most of the terrorists in the world surely are not terribly afraid of HIS bite.

I just hope he chooses a female, so we can all say “I hate that bitch!” and then duck for cover behind “I meant the dog… I meant the DOG!”

Congratulations Abound!

World Leaders Start Kissing Ass

Reportedly a shower of congratulations rained down from the political heavens from on high around the world. Well, some higher than others, and some, quite low, actually.

Obama truly is a world movement. Frankly, this syrup of hope, while it can be sickeningly sweet, is also very tasty. Even I have a little hope that Obama can do something for ME. But more on that below, in the next section.

At the same time, we are reminded that we need to be sure to exercise some common sense when enjoying the feast of hope that has been so slickly packaged for us, and purchased wholesale by the mind numb 48 hour patriots that pull themselves away from their televisions and sporting events long enough vote for the hype driven whizbang gadget that is Obama. I’m a little surprised we did not see Ron Popeil, or Billy Mays pitching Obama’s “Hope” and “Yes We Can” in a can with a shipping and handling fee and money back guarantee for $19.99.

If you needed a reminder of just what inexperience brings, Iranian President and former hostage holder Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent his heartfelt congratulations to our QVC Home Shopping Network Presidential package. The terrorist elect urged our soon to be surrenderer in chief to affect “real change”, implying this was in regards to “the oppressed nations of Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan”.

Translation- get out, America.

We know where this man stands. And we know Obama said he would sit down with him unconditionally. So now, we not only have the first President ever who promised to sit down and without preconditions engage in dialogue with a terrorist, but this terrorist is the same one who said Israel must be “wiped off the map” and that the holocaust was a manufactured, false recollection of history.

Fidel Castro didn’t call I guess. Dang.

Obama Has a Chance to Show His True Colors

I told you Obama gave me hope, remember? Well, here it is.

The only area that I have hope for Obama is the area of changing the nature of Black leadership in this Country.

We live in a country that has lost the promise of great black leaders like Dr. King. The names that leap to mind surounding any black movements in this country are Kwase Enfume, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan and Julian Bond. Some are less offensive than others, but all bring, to my mind at least, elements of hatred, racism, and self perpetuation of the same.

I won’t bore you with the quotes of these men, again. I will remind you though that the black community, by and large, insists that “we” (whites, or non blacks) have no right to tell them who their leaders should be. This has always amazed me.

No, you are right, and wrong. “We” (non-blacks) do not have a right to tell you who should be your leaders or spokespersons. “We” do have a right to tell you they are ugly hate, racism pushers.

What has long been missing from the fabric of this country are black voices that preach to reach, that understand that the goal isn’t to defeat the non-blacks, but rather to work with them and develop mutual respect. You do not achieve this with the rhetoric of people like Wright, Farrakhan, Bond, etc…

So, Obama brings for me one hope. And yes, really just one, as I don’t think politically he will serve me well at all, otherwise. That one hope is that he will raise the consciousness of black leadership to a new level. That he will raise the expectations of the black community concerning their leaders. That he will set an example of “working with” as opposed to “warring with”.

The pressures that come to bear on a national leader are going to require Obama to act in a manner that bridges gaps not only left and right, but black and white.

I wish him luck. We need some “progressiveness” on this issue, and we need to see hate mongers like those mentioned kicked to the dustbin of history.

The Energy Equation

Time to Get Charged About Powering This Nation

HUGE mistake by the right, on this one.

Two areas that my party, my movement, is falling down is energy and education. Concerning BOTH, I am intensely passionate. I am saving education for another day, and the energy revelation I am going to share right now is going to be brief. We have four years (well, 3 I suppose) to refine this message, but here is my summary as to what is wrong with our approach right now, both as a nation and a party.

SURELY all of you who followed energy debates as the election/campaigns wore on noticed one thing: Nuclear—

  1. McCain Yes
  2. Obama No Yes Maybe Wait No

Seriously, this is a huge mistake for this country right now, to pander to or even consider the concerns of the greenies on the left. FACT: Needing middle east oil means American blood will be shed, in the past, now, and in the future. Period.

So, while you a-holes are saving caribou in a part of the world NOBODY every goes to, soldiers die to secure oil interests in the Middle East. See That Blood on Your Hands is GREEN and Conserving Oneself to Death.

This country needs a very serious energy attitude overhaul. Absolutely nothing should be off the table. Super “green” measures such as wind power and solar, while they sound really pretty and high tech and without environmental impact, are really just ruses in their infancy. Once you start carpeting the desert with thousands of square miles of panels, or tens of thousands of windmills, you will start to see the problem.

Who cares about the desert, you say? Well, guess who? The GREEINES. There are already scores of threatened and endangered species in the desert. Such construction would affect hundreds more.

My point is, simply, don’t accept the perception that there is some kind of free lunch we can find.

Solution? Safe Nuclear development has to be on the table.

Our party/conservatives MUST take the lead on this and a national effort on a scale of the moon landing MUST be undertaken. The approach of the left is going to be piecemeal and costly, while largely ineffective, at least in any major tangible way that will significantly reduce the importance of oil from the middle east. CAFE standards, taking the bus, using energy efficient lightbulbs? Those are childs play compared to what I am talking about.

I foresee, with the right investment in manpower/mindpower, a future where energy is affordable and abundant.

America has to become the world leader again. We could do so with technical energy developments.

You cannot conserve your way into a future that has cold fusion in it. You have to chase the dreams…

Coming Soon…

Will Obama use Presidential power immediatel iva executive order to undermine and reverse Bush administration on offshore drilling, stem cell research, and abortion?

Miserable campaign. Miserable circumstances economically. Not the greatest VP choice. OUTSTANDING concession speech. Made me proud.
  • The most stupidest dumbest thang I have heard lately from the left...

Michael Moore, gushing hope in his own personal message to us all, stated "But today we celebrate this triumph of decency over personal attack, of peace over war, of intelligence over a belief that Adam and Eve rode around on dinosaurs just 6,000 years ago." Wow. I'm at a loss for words. This doesn't even deserve more than that word- "Wow". Does obesity cloud the brain, too?
