Stimulating the Illegals
If this one doesn’t absolutely infuriate you, nothing will.
Under consideration now, as you know, is a “stimulus” package that will only pass because of the overgrown increase of Democrat seats in the Senate. Oh, we can also thank Senators Specter and Collins for defecting and making this bill possible. Someone please go tamper with their brakes???
One of the most touted reasons, as we have witnessed by Prez Obama’s hand wringing over current job losses, is the creation of said same- jobs. What you probably are unaware of is the fact that this Democrat driven stimulus package is currently doing absolutely nothing to protect WHO gets those jobs, when and if they actually materialize.
At stake are many stimulus driven or created jobs, many of which would wind up in the construction field. The fear? That as many as 300,000 of the jobs created by this stimulus would go to ILLEGALS!
The Heritage Foundation study notes that of the $100 billion that is in the bill to promote government construction projects, many of those jobs will likely go to illegals due to the fact that the current Senate bill has no language in it which provides for the extension and application of the E-Verify program.
E-Verify is a Department of Homeland Security program, standing for Electronic Employment Verification Program. It applies to Government funded programs such as schools, federal employees, etc… This program has been very successful in screening people attempting to enter the workforce by utilizing the Verification Information System (VIS) database, but is not a mandatory program for private businesses.
Currently, without action, E-Verify will expire in March.
The House version of the stimulus includes a long term extension of E-Verify, and it passed there 407-2. That’s right. 407-2. Up in the Senate, E-Verify is being ignored, I am going to presume, because the bleeding heart liberals that you find in stuffed suits in that body are more worried about emotions than taking care of LEGAL Americans. You can thank none other than Senate “leader” Harry Reid.
Senator Jeff Sessions, (R) AL, queried Reid as to whether or not SA 239 would get to the floor for debate and a vote prior to passage of the stimulus. Reid basically didn’t give him an answer. SA 239 requires that local governments and businesses utilize E-Verify if they are receiving stimulus money. Essentially, this would extend the control and protection of the current program down to the local level, since the monies used will be government monies. The has the effect of making the jobs “government” jobs, even though some of the work will be issued out contractually to local, non-government contractors.
Two issues here are important to consider, in my opinion:
- First off, the fact that the Senate presumably will not not allow for protection of American jobs, funded by the Government, to be place IN a stimulus bill that has the goal OF creating jobs FOR Americans, is just beyond my ability to understand.
- Secondly- to hear that there is a program that is 99.4% effective in screening the employment eligibility of every person applying for a job in this country is not only not being made mandatory for jobs created by this stimulus, but is also not being considered by these liberal asses as something that should be mandatory across the board for ALL employers? This just absolutely defies any kind of damn logic I can muster.
I am FURIOUS. This is Government? Leadership? We are in an economic stretch of difficulty, and we still cannot get these liberal mental midget pansy assed children in adult bodies to understand that you have to protect American jobs?
I am aghast. That’s liberal governance… this is what happens when you give the kids the car keys.
Hail Comrade Obama and his socialist minions.
Please, please, contact your Senator and DEMAND that SA 239 be ADOPTED.
