Conservative Blog Political Potpourri for January 26th, 2008
Well, an interesting week.
Here is my prediction, going forward. McCain will get the Republican nod. Giuliani is done, hand him a fork. Romney, while genuine and having good hair, looks more Presidential than Yoda McCain, but will not be able to convince people that he can win over either Obama or Hillary.
Ron Paul holds tight in the race at about 3%.
As for Obama, his smash-mouth victory in South Carolina just might be enough to get him rolling again. Billary polls near double digits ahead of him nationally, but I still think this kid has the ability to pull off the upset. There is an air about him that is electrifying folks all over, and Billary is just more of the same old same old. And people are truly afraid of more Clinton in the White House, I suspect.
But both candidates did not disappoint when it comes to coming out swinging. Obama lowered himself to the political fisticuffs level of the Clinton’s by attacking the Senator for her former position on the Wal-Mart board of directors, and for using her husband so much in her campaign. Clinton tried to swing back by claiming that Obama had a buddy who is a slum lord. On this point I think Obama came out the victor, as there is clearly a difference between what you do as a lawyer in a firm vs. what one does sitting by choice on a Corporate Board.
Did you notice? Ron Paul is hovering around 3%.
Speaking of Clinton’s, are you aware that Mr. “Is” called Obama articulate? The last I recall, when a conservative called Obama articulate, it was intimated that they were bigots. But if Slick Willie does it, it gets a pass, and the Al Sharpton’s of the world become very selective in their ‘hearing’. One never has to look far for hypocritical thinking on the left. And the amazing thing is, the left talks about Señor Blue Dress as if he is some kind of political genius man-God, so you cannot believe that this was a mistake. With all of the racial subterfuge going on, instigated by the Clinton camp, you have to believe that what “Mr. Getonyourknees” meant was, “You all DO realize this kid is black, don’t you? I want to remind you, but I have to do it in a really clever way. So I will just use the word “articulate” while swinging this watch in front of you… you are getting verrrrrrrrrry sleeeeeeeeepy…”
Ron Paul got a ’second’ place finish in Louisiana. Right behind McCain, who was beaten by “Uncommitted pro life”, making Paul third and McCain second, really. Paul’s campaign cites some voting irregularities due to the State GOP not being clear as to who could and who could not vote. More people would care if Paul were above about 3% nationally.
Fred Thompson dropped out of the race, reportedly to take a nap.
Heath Ledger died. Did you hear? How could you avoid it? With the kind of coverage these things get, one would think they found a comet headed for earth. I instinctively change the channel as soon as I hear such news. I don’t have a lot of patience for glorifying celebrity death for 72 hours straight when our troops die daily without a blip on the news. I did hear that Ledger was a Ron Paul supporter though, and his death I believe brought Paul down to 2.99999% nationally.
Almost as earth shattering as Ledger dieing was the news that Ron Paul got second place in the Nevada caucus. It appears that Paul does well in this thing called the “caucus”. Not sure really what a caucus is, but I hope it doesn’t have anything to do with “wide stances” in bathrooms or Idaho Senator Larry Craig. Sometimes I get the impression that it is the same 3-4000 people flying around the country, supporting Paul, changing their addresses for each State. His signs are all over the place, but I hardly ever actually see a Paul supporter. Kinda like UFO’s, I guess. We should ask Kucinich about it.
Huckabee’s Huckaboom has now gone Huckabye-bye. He can share the fork with Giuliani. Out of money, and, I think, mostly out of steam, his 15 minutes has come and gone. If he dropped out, it might be interesting to see if Romney could gain on McCain.
Did I mention Ron Paul has about 3-4% national support? Heck, that beats ME by about, um, 3-4%.
I better get back to campaigning iffin’ I is gonna catch’im! If he keeps tearing it up in the important States, like Nevada, Louisiana, South Dakota, and Idaho, he just might have a chance…
( I don’t really believe that. I just I love saying things that will excite the Paul’ees and get their mouths frothing! It is like waving a ball in front of a dog…)
