Obama’s Liberal Socialism Machine Gearing Up

Obama's Liberal Socialism Machine Gearing Up

Watch your wallets, grab the kids, run for the hills and Katie BAR THE DOOR!

You know you are in trouble when you hear bumbling leftist driven and wholly owned subsidiaries of George Soros (a.k.a., ‘liberals’) start saying to the press “The time for partisanship has passed. Business as usual is what got us here. It’s time we work together for Americans. Americans want us to get the important work done for them.”

First off, the problem here is framing the discussion as though there is some “mandate”. While Democrats did take control of both houses in the last couple elections, and they did win the Presidency, there has not been any indication of any kind of ‘landslide’, “do anything you want” kind of tide change. The elections which have determined the current makeup of our government were close elections.

So while “Americans” as a whole might want sweeping changes, mostly what they/we mean when we say such things is that we want Washington to stop being run like the mob, by crooks, good ol’ boys on inside tracks paying off their buds and special interests with favors. Like, huge amounts of pork in a spending bill.

Like, appointing people who have not paid huge amounts of taxes.

Secondly, claiming that now is the time, just when your side has taken control, really wreaks of opportunistic olive branch symbolism- an olive branch that is actually a dagger.

Hope. Yes we can. Change.

Obama was elected on platitudes. He is not delivering on those platitudes, and he is only two weeks into it. Opportunity is rapidly escaping the new administration, but make no mistake about it, the “machine” is just getting primed.

If you have not been paying attention, you have missed the commercial campaigns that are propping up the image of some form of national health care system. You might be missing the energy commercials that are hitting the airwaves that tout solar and wind, but mention nothing about other sources of energy. Your politics are now being run by the Soros funded left, in ad campaigns, in an attempt to get the public sentiment all hypnotized and singing “kumbaya” enough to get the sheep on board for the coming onslaught of socialistic programs.

Add to the list of current idiotic moves by Obama the suggestion of limiting salaries of CEO’s of companies who partake in the financial bailouts to $500k a year. While, on the surface, you will probably get a big collective shrug from Joe Public, and some occasional “Hell YA!” shouts from those more inclined to let emotions cloud their decision making processes, one has to stop and take a step back before you actually feel the shudder that runs through your body when you suddenly realize just exactly what kind of mentality that represents from our “leader”.

Energy. Gay Marriage. Union voting rules being made public. Tax based redistribution. Maybe you are hearing of the “plans” for these coming down the road. I wonder if you have heard about all of them…

Today, I want to talk about just one of those undercurrents of “change” that you might not be aware of.

Change: It’s All Good, No?

Recently, I had a conversation with an individual I would have to conclude was liberal. It was brief. Went like this:

“Are you for or against Obama?”

Well, that depends. I am likely for him on some things, against him on others.”

“Why are you against him? Change is good!”

There ya go, folks. People want to run up and down a myriad of points as to why we lost, why the left won, but there is the real reason, right there- because people, who think like that, are given the power to vote. And, I might add, those are the lemmings targeted by the left with monosyllable soundbites- no, strike that- sound nibbles- that the left pumps out in crafted marketing like phrases and terms. It’s not a plan, or a campaign, it’s a months long television commercial.

With all of the “plans” that the liberals are rubbing their hands together about that they now have the opportunity to drive like a semi-truck through a plate glass window, let’s try to be sure not to forget to watch even those that are sliding under the radar, for now.

Remember the electoral college? Good. You probably remember just how upset the left was in 2000 when Gore won the popular vote, and wound up losing because of that nasty little constitutional tidbit that guarantees that, essentially, the cities won’t run the rural areas; the industrial rich areas can’t run over the values and needs of those living in more modest and underdeveloped areas.

The move is on again, and while it might be slow moving, it still is a movement, nonetheless.

In the Arkansas News Bureau:

A bill calling for Arkansas to join a movement to do away with the Electoral College system received the endorsement Wednesday of a legislative panel.

In what was nearly a party-line vote, the House Committee on State Agencies and Governmental Affairs recommended House Bill 1339 by Monty Davenport, D-Yellville. Under the bill, Arkansas would join a group of states that support giving the presidency to the candidate who wins the popular vote in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The vote was nearly perfectly along party lines. Guess which side was for, which was against?

Illinois, Hawaii, Maryland, and New Jersey have all passed similar measures. Oregon has proposed similar measures several times. Senator Bill Nelson, (D), Florida proposed an amendment to the Constitution on the day that congress declared Obama the winner of last years election.

(Note- The electoral college is not actually in the Constitution, but rather was written into law in 1845, and appears in the United States Code (3 U.S.C. section 4))

While I expect that this will fall short, even with the dominance that they have on the left right now in congress, I do NOT think it is going to go away altogether. Look for pressure on States such as Florida to abolish their “winner takes all” laws on the electoral college.

While we are focused on some of the larger more unsettling elements of “change” that Obama and his liberal friends will push, don’t lose track of this one, even at just your State’s level.

Hold on to your hats, wallets, and sensibilities, folks. This is going to be a frustrating 4 years.
