I'm glad someone else has spotted this. Here in the UK we've had our prime minister, Gordon Brown, running around the world thinking he's saving it from financial ruin - which has simply had the affect of making the rest of the world assume we're in bigger trouble than anyone (except Iceland).

To compound the lunacy, the government tried to "help" the economy by reducing VAT (purchase tax) from 17.5% to 15% (doesn't that make you want to rush out and buy?) whilst announcing simultaneously that, in the future, tax would have to be increased to pay for it.

Genius!

I'm all for reducing taxation, but we get a pathetic incentive to spend coupled with an unquantified fear of guaranteed greater tax later: guess which one is the stronger motivator of consumer behavior?

Doh!

Obama's lies are ignored by the MSM. They elected him...he can do no wrong. The worthless deadbeats that voted for him are the first ones to be losing their jobs! Poetic Justice!

Revisionary history.

For the record, Republicans as a whole were not saying "do nothing". Some few were. Most thought we needed to do something, yes. The package was too big and full of pork and special programs, and not large enough tax cuts.

Obama and others intimate they met us halfway, but actually, the met us about 15% of the way.

And lets go over the Mantra of the Bush-Raygun de-regulation, s0-called "REVOLTUION"?...de-regulate...de-regulate...and yet more...
banking DE-REGULATION?????...and this has nothing to do with the Collapse of the Economy?...talk about the blind leading the blind to the Ostrich hole?
Now what did Hoover do when the 29 crash hit?...Same thing you Republicans are proposing....do nothing and the market will correct itself.....NOT!!...It got worse....Look at the past before you laugh at the leader of the country taking us into the future..good and or bad?...but dont forget it was your DE-regualtions that got the mess we are in now!!
So lets repeat the do-nothing Hooverites dogma....nothing...nothing...nothing...and then stick our heads in the sand of depression?
Dah?
