Man, This Presidential Stuff is Haaarrd…

In yet ANOTHER move defying his campaign trail promises, Barry is finding once again that being on the stump and finger wagging on a soap box in front of teleprompters in order to rile up and gain the support of those who have proven they are not exactly “critical thinkers” is a long way from actually having to make decisions that will affect your “legacy” and country.

As I stated on this blog when it happened, the promise to close Guantanamo within a year showed Barry’s lack of experience, lack of knowledge, and lack of the wisdom to understand that this was easier said than done. In addition to that, it would prove to be unsafe for America, as well as dangerous to our intelligence gathering and protection of said intelligence; and dangerous to our judicial system.

You see, in Barry’s previous world, everyone ‘talks’- they rarely have to actually ‘DO’ and then be held singularly accountable for it. There’s usually some big bureaucratic animal or machine to hide behind; some massive piece of legislation you voted for but didn’t support all of it- you just votd for it because it was the best “compromise. The ideological lofty goals of a “community organizer” rarely undergo the unique, individualized scrutiny that is leveled against the most powerful office in the world.

Recent developments in Barry’s backtracking, evolutionary mindset are indicating that yet another “wait a minute… let me think this though a little more” epiphany has taken place. This has already occurred a couple of times, most notably and recently the exercising of the  ”States Secrets” powers in order to protect national interests. Obama previously has shown ideological disdain for that program, as well as others. Somehow, that ideology continues to fail to survive the test of the practical world, where lives hang in the balance.

The most recent example of backtracking by Obama is:

  1. The appearance that reviving of the military commission is imminent
  2. The potential need for a new prison to retain in custody Gitmo prisoners who would potentially be held without trial indefinitely.

Military Commissions/Tribunals

Obama previously has made overtures that he and this country cannot travel down this path, and that the correct and just way to handle these individuals is to bring them into the civil justice system. In fact, Obama stated that commissions had “been an enormous failure” and he would “reject the Military Commissions Act.” For Obama and the left to assume that such efforts have not already been discussed in the many years prior to his election is just wreaks of the hate Bush mentality that we were on the wrong path, committing war crimes, violating people’s “rights”, trouncing upon human dignity, etc… But now that Barry has gotten some more “edu-macation” on the realities which are intrinsically embedded in these situations, he is ironically coming to the same conclusion that the previous administration(s) have come to considering such individuals.

Those conclusions are:

  1. Some prisoners are too dangerous to release in the US, and nobody else will take them.
  2. Some evidence could not be admitted in a federal court.
  3. Some evidence which CAN be released and used in a federal court would damage national security.

So Barry is considering going the way of Bush, with some amendments that might allow for more legal protections for terrorists.

GITMO in the US

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is indicating that the Pentago may have to consider building a new prison. Wait a minute… For whom? I did not know the DoD was in the business of prisons…

Well, thanks to Barry’s overtures of  ”appearance trumps practical logic”, we ar going to have to close GITMO in under a year. And as I stated on this blog when he announced the decision in public with much fanfare, this idiot just put his cart in front of his horse. Where would they go? Who will take them? What will change if we just move them?

Political opposition to placing these prisoners into federal prisons is likely to be high. As gates put it, ”I fully expect to have 535 pieces of legislation before this is over saying, ‘Not in my district, not in my state.’ ” So instead, the DoD will likely spend millions of dollars building a new prison for these detainees. Gates anticipates the DoD setting aside as much as $50 million for the work. The question is, WHERE?

GITMO itself cost tens of millions to build. We, based on a hasty promise driven by idiot ideological pacification of a hate Bush terrorist ass kissing ‘left’, are closing a prison in order to build a new one? Brilliant.

So- we will have military commissions at a new facility under a different name and location. Meaning, we will do what we were going to do, but spend tens of millions doing it somewhere else, so the “image” can be changed? Seriously? Does Obama think the world is that stupid as to not see through this? Is the left that stupid as to not see this is basically “Full steam ahead with the Bush plan, now that we have reviewed the facts!”???

More shell games. More substantiation that the hand wringing hate Bush left was wrong, and Bush was doing things by the book, based on the best evidence and facts…

More to come, I am sure.

    “Yakety Yak, don’t talk back”

The Coasters sang it in 1958 but we’re hearing it again in 2009. This time Obama mouths the refrain with regard to health care and frankly, President Obama, we’re tired of hearing it.

It’s a huge poorly written bill that puts government in charge and we don’t appreciate you trying to ram it down our throats. Stop pushing. Everything you want is an “Emergency.” If I didn’t know better I’d think you were spoiled. We’re not falling for the “Emergency” bunk again.

    QUESTION –

While I have been busy trying to draw a breath after gasping at the scope of Obama’s huge money and power grabs, what is going on with Super-Nafta and the quiet push to unite Canada,Mexico and the U.S. into a North American Union?

Behind the scenes these people never stop working and I’m sure the recession has only slowed them down a little. How much more of America have we lately sold to foreign countries? What tolls will I have to pay for traveling on roads built by taxpayer money but sold to foreign countries?

What about the Mexican truckers? Are they still ready to travel our NAFTA highway being built for them? Will they bring more people and drugs?

Obama tells us he will be transparent. Does that mean the next NAFTA/SPP summit will be held open for observers and the press? Tell me that, President Obama.

And when is the next summit meeting? How much progress have your cohorts made behind the scenes. When are Fox and Calderone and Juan Hernandez and Robert Pastor going to pop up again and tell us what America should do and do for Mexico?

I’m waiting for answers. My eye has been off the ball and I’m sure SPP collaboraters have been busy.

I agree closing Gitmo was a bad decision made in the heat of the race for political capital. Now he has to fix it. I’m sure his “community organizer” mind is making a few adjustments by now.

Fixing a mistake in government is always possible. What you learn is that the fixing usually takes more time, energy and hard work than you imagined. In fact fixing is so difficult that when it’s fixed and finished you remind youself you never want to do it again.

Maybe Obama will learn from this.

Hey- I would rather Dan Quayle be President and Joe Biden or Tipper Gore be the VP… Holy crap this is going to get deep! They are already trying to get people together to go where they are going to build it! SHEESH! What a DA!

  5. Buffoon says:

I must correct one thing.. the left IS definitely stupid enough to fall for it…

  6. Daily News says:

    Good commentary.
I just said something similar about tearing things down when you don’t have any responsibility. It is a LOT different when the buck stops with you, as Obama is discovering. I applaud him for trying to change some things, but it would be nice to see more critical thinking going into decisions. I doubt we will ever hear “Obama lied, people died,” because the people who did all that have lost interest now. We will also be listening for the anti-military tribunal voices.
