Conservative Blog Political Potpourri, 6/7/09
Having not published a “political potpourri” for some time, the timing in the news seemed perfect to give you a buffet style sampling of what is going on in the world, and my take on it…
Judging the Judge
I know that the nomination of Sotomayor to the SCOTUS has been talked about for days, but I want to quickly propose something here that you may not have heard elsewhere. And, I am going to do so using the words of Obama, and Soto herself to make my point.
Surely most of you are aware of the fact that Sonia has made a controversial statement concerning her perspective that her “experience” in life has, in her opinion, uniquely qualified her for the job of Justice. In fact, she thinks she is not only uniquely qualified, but superiorly qualified. Said Soto:
“a wise Latina woman . . . would more often than not reach a better conclusion [as a judge] than a white male.”
Barry then leapt to her defense, claiming that she might choose better words given the chance to restate it, and implying that this was a unique, isolated incidence of such theory. Now we find out that Soto has made such comments regularly, over the course of many years.
Now, all of that being said, I am having a problem with the use of two words- words that Obama and Soto have used: EMPATHY and WISE.
Many of you will recall that Barry indicated he would like to appoint a justice that was capable of exhibiting “empathy”. The exact quote ended like this:
“I view that quality of empathy, of understanding and identifying with people’s hopes and struggles, as an essential ingredient for arriving at just decisions and outcomes.”
Regarding Soto’s comments about wisdom, white men, and better decisions, making such a statement once would be foolish. Making it several times over the course of several years when you are in the position she was in, and might be in the future, is FAR from wise. In fact, in one instance, she knew she was being taped/recorded.
Additionally, I have a real hard time extracting from her comments any indication of “empathy”. In fact, what I hear is antipathy. I would not consider her a “racist”, but I do consider her a racial and sexual bigot.
I can recall a time in this country when it was believed by many that white’s were smarter than blacks. Obama and Soto would be WISE to remember that as well, and recognize that wisdom and empathy have nothing to do with race or sex.
Barry Not Successful In Iran
Barry’s open hand policy just might be creating more of a fist out of Iran’s hand than he might have hoped. In Feb. 2008, under President Bush, Iranians held a 34% favorable view of America. In a rare survey of Iranians completed in May this year, we have dropped to 29%.
Maybe Iranians know that talk accomplishes nothing when it comes to creating democratic freedom in their country.
Keep it up Barry. Maybe we can promote you do head of the UN someday in the future.
Don’t Ask, and Don’t Ask Again!
The Supreme Court has refused to hear a case which constitutes a challenge to the Pentagon’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, which was put in place under Bill Clinton. Regardless of what you may think about the issue, it might have been interesting to know what a more wise latina woman would have determined on such a case, what with all her “empathy”, and other superficial, tangentially insignificant personality traits.
600,000 More Jobs to be created… or, well, saved…
Barry will try to spend his way into a job growth pattern this summer, by spending some more of our tax money on expanding government jobs which are unsustainable. The projects will include military base work (that ought to make those on the left happy), schools, etc…
This is likely in response to the growing unemployment numbers which have eclipsed what Barry and friends said we would see. The Obama administration forecasted we would not surpass 8%. We are now at 9.5%.
Said Barry: “People lose jobs, they pull back on spending, that means businesses don’t have customers, and suddenly you start seeing more job lay-offs.”
Wow. And he’s only our President? Can we not find this man a more important job so we can utilize this keen intellect to its fullest?
I suspect that soon, the jobs Barry will be trying to save will be his own, and a lot of mid-term Dems in congress.
One Last Chance
Chrysler has another challenge, and a decision is likely to come from the SCOTUS today. The challenge? A large group of bond holders (primarily teachers) are challenging the decision of Chrysler and the White House to allow for contract law to be turned on its head, which was done in favor of preserving Union strength in the auto manufacturer’s attempt to remain solvent.
In the deal struck largely with the pressure of the White House, Chrysler would be sold to Italian auto manufacturer Fiat. In this deal, investors, who normally are given first priority in such matters, were given a deal subservient to the interests of the Unions. In other words, an Obama left leaning White House set up a machine that forced Chrysler into a deal which offered little to no protection that is normally afforded under contract law to private investors. So what is the problem?
Well, obviously anyone who loves the rule of law, precedent, etc… finds this unsettling as hell, because it allows an ideological political figurehead to manipulate private capitalistic industry for political gain. But no, that is only part of the problem. What is the real error here?
In doing what Barry did, our dip-shit in Chief just dried up the largest pool of speculative investment support for a company that is striving to come out of bankruptcy, and may be for some time. Who in their RIGHT MIND is going to toss venture capital at Chrysler (or GM, for that matter) when they see that in fact they not only have no legal foundation to stand on, but they also have an enemy in the White House?
Stand by. SCOTUS can still help nudge this deal back the right direction.

WHERE’S THE NAU TRANSPARENCY?
Obama, Calderon of Mexico and Harper of Canada will meet in Guadalajara, Mexico on August 9-10 for their annual SPP (Security and Prosperity Partnership)meeting born of the desire to form a North American Union combining the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
The name has been changed to North American Leaders’ Summit to make the idea more palatable. We have seen these kind of name changes in the past and know them to be ploys to confuse or misdirect public interest.
This brainchild known as the NAU (North American Union) is the reason our borders stay open. NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was supposed to bring Mexico’s economy up to make the possibility of combining the three (3) countries feasible. NAFTA FAILED. I repeat — NAFTA FAILED.
In the past these meetings were closed to reporters but Obama promised, in late writings, to make the meetings open and transparent. Let’s see how he does.
The NAU was considered “conspiracy theory” for some time but even Fox, in his book, admitted he wanted a NAU. Although you seldom hear anything from them or about them, the people working to make a NAU happen have not disappeared, just gone underground.
Many of these NAU thinkers have backgrounds in education and higher learning. They are bright people with no common sense and want to take care of you, just like Obama does. You see, dum-dum, you just aren’t smart enough to make decisions for yourself.
LET’S SEE THE TRANSPARENCY YOU PROMISED, PRESIDENT OBAMA.
If you need a prefix in front of AMERICAN your RACEIST
Obama’s Green Hell bill often referred to as Cap and Trade passed the House 219-212. I’m told that we can expect to pay approximately $2,000 a year, per household, for the taxes it will impose.
Does anyone care?
With regard to healthcare the Black Reverend on the Neil Cavuto Show reminds me \I am my brother’s keeper.\ Obama looks for \empathy\ from his judges. Illegal aliens demand that I be \compassionate.\
What is going on here? Why are strangers, the government and criminals telling me what I should feel? No wonder I feel so smothered. Law dictates what I do and special interests want to dictate what I feel.
I’ll tell you what I feel. I feel violated. Get out of my head. Don’t even try to dictate my emotions and feelings. They are born of common sense and experience and I trust them.
And why-oh-why am I being so politically correct? It’s the damned Mexican swine flu, probably born in the filth of Mexico and carried here with the permission of Mexico and my damned Congress and great leaders who care nothing for citizens of this country.
Today ambitious Hispanics control with empathy, poor Blacks and Whites are ready to be cared for from cradle to grave, Robin Hood, aka Barack Obama is ready to redistribute everything and his Merry Men keep making merry with our money. Conservative Whites and all thinkers who are foes of socialism should shut up and take it while a vicious liberal/progressive media attacks conservatives for existing.
They think we should all march to the same drummer, worship Obama, drive small government-made cars, give ourselves to the green myth, empty our pockets for Mexico, enrich and care for everyone but ourselves and become a nanny state singing gung-ho work songs as we labor side-by side for government perks as brainwashed volunteers.
If we don’t work fast enough Obama whips us with another speech suggesting the end of the world if we don’t hurry up and pass his bills without reading them. What we see is the end of choice and capitalism.
While I watch America made over in an image I no longer recognize I wonder the following:
1) Why has Nancy Pelosi disappeared after calling the CIA liars?
Why does the media, CBS,CNN,HLN give us repetitive trash and biased reporting?
2) What will happen to GITMO after the terrorists are gone?
3) How much longer will my government force me to support Mexican citizens and can I have retroactive compensation for doing so?
4) Will Obama ever stop repaying Hispanics for their votes? (Sotomayor the empathetic Latina)
5) Why are liberal/progressives so cruel and deprecating to those who disagree? Why do they act like political thugs?
6) Why should I work hard so those who don’t work can have my money?
7) Why won’t someone in the federal government investigate ACORN so I can renew my confidence in our election system?
9) Where did Susan Roesgen of Tea Party infamy go?
10) Why are Americans allowed to rampage and destroy after sports games? Do they belong to a favored special group of Americans? When did violence come into fashion as a cultural statement?
11) Why is Perez Hilton allowed to sit as a judge in beauty contests when he is a homosexual who doesn’t seem to like women and has no use for them?
The white hairs multiplying on the crown of our tin god remind me he is only a man, a flawed man at best, as are we all. I expect he will start dying his hair before he is through his first term in office. His worshipers will demand the appearance of youth.
Carrying the weight for the United States and Mexico is a heavy burden. Standing as an idol for the world is even weightier. Today I am reminded of my mortality, and his, and wonder if H1N1 will kill me. Will they say “she had underlying conditions?” Should I write Mexico a nasty letter for their packed cities, lax sanitary practices and inability to recognize disease in anticipation of my death?
Today I don’t feel much like an American. Races and foreign countries take center stage and make demands. My president tries to please everyone but me. I am simply the wage earner who makes his grandiose programs possible but even he, a god among men, can’t keep manufacturing money into eternity.
I really don’t see how we can criticize Iran’s elections when our own are coming into suspicion more often. Uncertain political elections make me very uneasy. What in the hell is ACORN and how does it work in our election process? Is anything fair and honest anymore? Why do we keep renaming things to make them more palatable or less obnoxious? Can’t Americans face the truth anymore?
Should SCOTUS make the right decision in the Chrysler “deal”, Bama’s GM “deal” will also go up in flames. If they go the other way.. all hope may be lost for capitalism as we know it.
I’m breathlessly waiting for more in the SCOTUS vs POTUS drama.
