The Ron Paul Widget

The Ron Paul Widget

Widgets are all the rage these days. These crazy little doohickeys make your internet or computer work better, or in clever little ways that make us all amused, at the very least. The truth is, though, if they were really all that necessary they would be part of the OS, built in.

Another crazy little doohickey is Ron Paul.

Corn, Bibles, and Viagra

Corn, Bibles, and Viagra

It would appear that things are shaping up fast in the Cornhusker State for Osama bin “Articulate”, a.k.a. “I won’t wear pins or place my hand over my heart during the pledge” Obama.

With both Biden and Kucinich already using “strategery” to direct that their second choice caucus goers support Obama, now add on to that pig-pile (it’s a term from football folks, not a derogatory one) the bail out “supporters” of Bill Richardson.

While this might be more of a strategy to bring down John “Hairstyle” Edwards as opposed to a “dis” of Hillary, it certainly does not bode well for the former First “Woman Scorned”.

Prediction- Obama (Watch out Repubs- Unlike Hillary, this guy actually could WIN the whole thing.)

On the Republican side of the tracks, it sounds as though “Sleepy Fred” is willing to call it quits after Iowa, telling his supporters (the AARP) to support McCain if they can get up and walk still after hearing one of his “Gipper” stump speeches. Rumor has it that his tour bus is called the “Nap Express”, and instead of a lavish interior set up like an office, there is a Lazy-Boy recliner and a tattered sofa. (Ed: Reports stated that a line of trucks marked “Political Viagra” were headed into Iowa early this morning, so more on that later.)

I don’t know what happened to Thompson, but I think we all decided we liked his thespian characters more than him in real life. At least when it comes to “President”.

Ron Paul- well, he is Ron Paul. Still squeaking out his “Retreat!!! The Constitution damands it!!!” rhetoric, he is licking his wounds from being left out of the upcoming Fox News Roundtable discussion. However, and I know I have said it before- WATCH this guy folks. He is a likely left wing supported Perot-like stooge. I suspect that there is a HUGE chance of him jumping in as a Libertarian or Independent after losing the nomination, citing the huge groundswell of support he obtained during this process.

The left would like nothing more than to shave off points from the moderate conservative slice of pie to produce another Clinton in the White House like we saw happen with Perot.

Romney and Huckabee continue to smile like good Christians while slinging stones at each other like Cain and Abel. While I really want to leave religion out of this, I would love to see what you get when it isn’t just a Mormon and a Southern Baptist running for President. Just for grins, I would like to see a huge summer picnic with about 500 of each. See how long they “get along” before the religious attacks came out.

Oh well… I can dream…

Prediction- Huckabee wins a close one in the Bible Belt.

For you Iowans… have a great day. It is the only time the Country really remembers you are there.

(Ok, now… that is 95% meant to be tongue in cheek- we all know Iowa is south of the Great Lakes and East of the Rockies- I think you have to turn left at St. Louis…)

The Sleigh is in Front of the Reindeer

The Sleigh is in Front of the Reindeer

For some time now, I have toyed with an idea. I have come to the conclusion I should publish it. I will likely re-publish it EVERY YEAR from now on…

What is it?

Well, shopping instructions. Kind of…

It has become very apparent that there will be a “war” fought between secular’s, and those who are more “religious” when it comes to many social issues in our society. Among those is, of course, Christmas.

Of course, we celebrate Christmas every year (or try to) and a very large part of that tradition is the giving of gifts. We buy these gifts at stores, most of the time. However, the stores are trying way too hard to accommodate the hyper sensitivities of our secular “friends”.

Now, for the sake of argument, let’s just accept the facts that seculars make up less than about 30% of society (I am being “kind” in my generalization- their numbers are far less than that) and that Christians represent a majority of the rest of that pie, to the tune of about 225 million folks.

It turns out, year after year, that “we” who believe in either the religion or tradition of Christmas have to fight to make sure stores recognize, appropriately, that a very vast majority of Americans are celebrating Christmas when they are visiting the stores, and buying their “wares”.

These stores have their priorities all backwards. The Sleigh is in front of the Reindeer.

In some cases, we have to fight them left and right, tooth and nail, to get things like “Holiday Tree” and other watered down symbols and terms removed, and to have the more traditional observation be represented, either in WORD (”Christmas”) or in spirit (images).

Now, apparently some of these stores are getting the message, but others are not. What message? “WE are fed UP!!!”

The good news is, we are making some progress in this area; the ACLU is winning and challenging less, and across the Nation, it does appear that perhaps the pendulum has started to swing back the other way.

The bad news is, the battle is not over, not by a long shot. .

You can find lists here and there of stores who make mistakes with their advertising- I will not print a list in this article, as the ‘list’ does change over time.

Some stores will bend to the pressure, others obstinately feel they have some kind of stand to make. As examples, Target, Wal Mart, Sears, Macy’s and others hit the list from time to time. One really has to do a little research to know for sure what is going on, when.

So, here is what I would urge you to do when you find a bah-humbug secular stance at any major store near you: SHOP there.

Correct. Go in, fill up a cart, from all over the store. Hit automotive, garden, home, kitchen, clothing (his hers and juniors!) Get one of everything you want, and maybe a few things you would not want. Small items, big items, perishable items, heavy items, and things from high on shelves. Shop shop shop ’til you drop…

When your cart is overflowing with Christmas cheer, and perhaps would not hold one more item, you still have one more to add.

Go find a nice wreath or banner or door sign that prominently says “Happy Holidays!!!” on it, and place it on the top of the cart… and leave the store.

  I said ’shop’, not ‘buy’.

Imagine the point made by thousands if not millions of carts full of “Holiday” goods that have to be restocked, at the stores expense. Nothing illegal here… nothing terribly ugly here. You simply  changed your mind when you saw that all they had was “Happy Holidays” on the decorations.

Now, I am off to Target, to grab a few carts.

  Merry Christmas!!!

Dr. Gallup's Mental Health Elixir

Dr. Gallup's Mental Health Elixir

This is just too funny to pass up.

Apparently a study has been done on four years worth of Gallup polling data. The study found… are you ready??? “Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to report having excellent mental health.”

Now, I am sure all us conservatives are out here, scratching our heads, fighting with the buckles on our straightjackets or the tamper proof tops of our Zoloft bottles, asking aloud “Seriously? Are you sure? You aren’t kidding now, are you???”

I have just a one word response:

“Duh…”

I can’t (read that, can’t)  count on two thousand sets of hands and feet the amount of times I have sat there, staring back at any liberal I have met, and wondered “Are you stable in there? Is a little bird going to fly out of a little door in the front of your forehead in a second? I bet your favorite cereal is Cocoa Puffs, correct?”

Think of the times you have seen or heard Cindy Sheehan, Susan Estrich, Jenny Backus, Al Franken, or Rosie O’Donnell. Try to tell me you have not wondered seriously about the mental health of John Murtha, Jane Fonda, Nancy Pelosi, or Alec Baldwin.

Each of these people are excellent examples supporting the argument that chromosomal functions are not always foolproof.

We know this list goes long and deep, but I don’t have that much ink, even in the cyber world. (The real truth is, I wan”t to go out and put up my Christmas lights.)

So- our thanks to Gallup, for bringing us this “proof”.

As if we needed it…

The utterly BRILLIANT left wing ideologue scientist, Nobel winner, internet creator, and "Champion of the chad recount", Al Gore has once again wowed us with some more amazing feats of observation. Gore says the most recent Myanmar tragedy, Cyclone Nargis, which claimed 200,000 lives, was the result of Global Warming. Nice job, Nostradamus. This has brought on a chorus of rejection from scientists worldwide that claim that NO storm could be directly attributed to either the global warming phenom OR the science... neither of which could support Gore's claims. And this is supposed to be one of the left's "best". God help us. He could have been PRESIDENT.

The passing of Tim Russert brings to mind, for me, the importance of excellent journalism. Russert was one of the finest. While loving life, he would still grill your butt on anything that was the buzz... no free passes, and he understood that journalism was the 4th branch of the US democratic process. Our US political process and the field of Journalism will sorely miss Tim Russert.
  • The most stupidest dumbest ignorantest thang I have heard from the left lately...

Paul Begala, bomb throwing liberal pundit and talk show man, recently made clear what the left truly thinks. And remember, the "left" is supposed to be the party that blacks should love and vote for. Said Begala "We cannot win with egg heads and African-Americans. OK, that is the Dukakis Coalition, which carried ten states and gave us four years of the first George Bush." I totally agree by the way. You cannot win with only black Americans. You CAN win with only eggheads, though... This insinuation that African American support of Obama is the reason for Obama having ANY chance is correct. I think what Begala is saying is the same thing Clinton is saying, in a more veiled way. And I think what Begala is trying to say is "Obama is propped up by an African American vote- and that is IT. He cannot win without it." I agree... but I think it is a stupid to take that approach, or point out such a point of view, especially if you are a person from the party that claims (falsely) to represent the black community BEST.
