Conserving Oneself to Death

Conserving Oneself to Death

Exporting American Security on Behalf of Nature

We have a problem in this country. And, like so many other things that we humans do, this problem is not going to get attention until it hurts us so bad that we take action way later than we should have.

Want a traffic light at a busy intersection where a lot of accidents happen because there is no traffic light? Well, believe it or not, at City Council meetings what you will hear them say that the light is slated to be installed in 2009, unless there is a rash increase of deaths at the intersection before then.

Like the rest of life, we plan our fixes in government and socially the same way a smoker quits… “Tomorrow” .

Our addiction to oil in this country is going to be the downfall of us. Our economy is in the hands of ragheaded sheiks with backwards ideals on the other side of the world. Our national security is tied to this same exact oil. We are like crack addicted freaks running to the dealer in the bad part of town, the Middle East.

Why do we do this? Why have we handicapped ourselves so?

One reason is Middle East oil was easier to get at than a lot of our oil, therefore cheaper. But the real reason is, we are hamstrung in this country by greenies who chain themselves to trees to save owls. The same militants who put their boats in between whales and whaling harpoons.

They call themselves activists, I call them militants. And they are as dangerous to the future of this country as the terrorists in the Middle East, because they undermine our ability to provide our own energy solutions because they think that saving some fish is more important than saving the free world. They claim some species is a treasured resource while ignoring the fact that freedom is more precious and important a commodity to peace and the well-being of this planet than a bird. They are more worried about an oil spill than they are about thousands of deaths of Americans, either from terror attacks or from direct conflict in our efforts to keep the Middle East in the “right” hands.

As I wrote in “That Blood on your hands is GREEN”, these conservation militants are partly responsible for the deaths of American soldiers in the future in ANY war that is partially or mostly motivated by oil concerns in the Middle East. Their incessant insistence that we put wildlife above national security is now coming back to haunt us.

This country has more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia. The number I heard was somewhere in the neighborhood of 95 BILLION barrels in the form of crude and shale oil. The stark raving lunatics of the left chant “we won’t drill in the Grand Canyon or the Everglades” but what they don’t talk about is any rational approach to the mining and drilling of other areas in Colorado or on the gulf and Ocean coastal waters. Their ignorance of improvements in the safety of those technologies is driven mostly by lust for a policy of NOTHING as opposed to putting their Country first.

The holistic approach to the world these radicals espouse prevents any compartmentalized discussion about the finer details as to how to go about reaching all of our goals collectively and with compromise, instead of simply their all or nothing world of NOTHING.

Their rants of “we can’t drill out way out of this problem” and “were ANWR online right now the price of gas wouldn’t go down more than a few cents” is like a smoker not stopping smoking because the risk of cancer for him won’t go away the day after he quits. Moving ahead NOW with increased drilling, and the raising of the federal ban on offshore drilling, would be a part of a broad policy change in this country to get agressive in seeking solutions that can help us get off the Middle East tit that we seem to be content suckling until we die.

In the coming election, we should expect the two proposed leaders to go head to head on such issues. This country should be very ready to change course. I for one expect strong and agressive changes.

Thus far, I am not impressed with Obama’s approach, and only mildly more impressed with McCain’s.

Maybe our screaming will help them “get it”.

Obama and Wright - Ba-Rock, and a Hard Place

Obama and Wright - Ba-Rock, and a Hard Place

This is truly one amazing political season.

Watching the Democrat Party, which prides itself in inclusion and ‘big tents’, we notice it is as divided as you can get. You have a woman whining about being a woman and getting hard questions or first questions, and you have blacks fighting with blacks about what being black means, and what blacks should think about America. You have Dems saying that Obama would not be where he was were he not black. And you have the party who considers themselves the party of voter inclusion excluding their own people in Michigan and Florida due to “party rules”.

I thought they were the party of “every vote should count”, and cries of “dis-enfranchisement” run rampant when they are losing elections- but not when they are trying to punish their own. The irony is, they are punishing themselves, mostly.

As I have said, why would we let them run the country if they can’t run their own party, which they control already?

Right now what we are watching is the destruction of a sure fire nomination of one black, by another black. This is amazing to me because race is supposed to be one of the perfected political commodities the left has. They understand… they include… they don’t attack race or gender, OR religion.

However, Wright is the biggest scar Obama has, and due to his complete “unknown quantity” rock star status, people are slowly over time paying more and more attention to the stupidity of his “friends”.

So here are some important thoughts to ponder:

  1. Wright says his comments were taken out of context. First off, not only is this excuse more used by black leaders than the word “axe” for “ask”, but it is also not supported by Obama’s response. Obama (recently, and finally) repudiated the COMMENTS of Wright, actually quite strongly. Why would Obama repudiate such comments if they were so abused and taken out of context by the media? See #2.
  2. Obama is accused by Wright of making his comments because that is what “politicians” do, and Wright does what he does because that is what “pastors” do. The only problem with this comment is, I think Wright is acting more like the politician here, and Obama is just trying to do damage control for an idiot “friend”, which is what a pastor might do.
  3. Wright spent much of his time in the latest media abominations talking about how he accepts the differences of others, all the while mocking people who have been pointing out his unacceptable comments. These attacks and mocking statements came complete with head rolls and eye rolls that you would expect from a teenage, not a fully grown American Pastor. This is truly and example of the “child in the adult body” I talk about when I talk about liberals.
  4. Obama, while trying to distance himself from Wright’s comments by stating he found them terrible, did NOT counter those points by stating what he though the TRUTH was. For example, the comparison by Wright that the US military efforts are terroristic or similar to terrorist acts could be repudiated AND countered by Obama by him stating what he thinks the US military did WELL in the past, and how America has set standards that NO other Country can rise to. Obama has NEVER given a speech on what he thinks America has done great. Think about it.
  5. On the far left, and in Black America, nothing much Wright did will change a lot of votes. Some, yes, but not enough to matter. If you are one of those lefties or blacks, sorry. Welcome to the real world, where in some cases, none of us matter. To those on the left who love Obama, he could be exposed with strong evidence to be a pedophile heroin user, and they would think it a conspiracy and not change their minds. And when 90+% of a race votes for a candidate of the same race, one has to wonder why so few talk about “reverse” racism.
  6. Wright says this is not about him, but about the Black church. This was an attempt to make this racial, BY a racist. This is also why Obama can’t leave his church- he is in a box and has to protect his church now. And, to be honest, another reason he can’t leave his church is because he would lose up to 20% or more of the black vote nationwide, which he cannot afford. But Wright wanted this to be an attack on the “Black Church”, whatever that is. No, no sir. This was about YOU and YOUR comments, and in the process, the crazy nature of your church also became interesting and a little disturbing to many, many Americans.
  7. Many pundits and lefty talking point idiots are stating that Obama is being “consistent” because he has denounced Wright. This is far from true. Obama first stood by the man for 20 years; then he uninvited him from speaking at his Election launch; then after his comments became more of a nuisance, he gave a tepid denunciation in the press and a fairly weak speech. Now, that the damaged ship is taking on more water, Obama has decided to bail harder and with a bigger bucket, by giving an even stronger denunciation. This is NOT consistency. This is, as Wright said, Obama doing what “politicians” do… saying what “politicians” say.

If Wright keeps opening his mouth, he could lose this for Obama, unless Obama denounces him completely, and not just what he said. Leaving the Church would help his image too, but it would kill him in the black community/constituency. What he gained in credibility he would more than lose in black votes.

Ba-Rock, and hard place.

The Hiding of Obama

The Hiding of Obama

You have heard that a long drawn out battle with Hillary Clinton is to John McCain’s advantage. This may be true, but I am going to show you the downside as well.

The pro’s

We all know the general advantages for the GOP of a protracted Democrat primary season. Briefly, here are most of them:

  1. Both Obama and Hillary spend more money on each other.
  2. Their efforts to win will damage them both, revealing weaknesses the GOP can use later.
  3. It divides the Democrat party further, and will leave lasting scars and even defectors who won’t vote for the “other” if “their” candidate does not win.
  4. It is damn entertaining to watch these crazy clueless folks scramble around trying to look important and qualified. The name calling within the party is an extra perk as well.

But few people have mentioned or discussed what the downside is for this process to go on well into the summer, perhaps even all the way to Denver in August.

The Con

Cover for Obama’s positions…

Currently, McCain has the luxury of staying mostly out of the fray, avoiding that which drags one down into the gutter… i.e., day to day politics. Obama and Clinton are doing that work on each other, and Howard Dean jumps in from time to time just to remind us how lucky we are that he never became President. During this time, McCain has time to regroup, gather some advisors and formulate good positions and plans for the ‘General’, and time to generally look “Presidential” by making statesman like trips and speeches around the Country.

Oh- and make money.

But while all of this is happening, a very quiet and somewhat dastardly advantage for Obama is playing out beneath our radar.

Due to the nature of the situation, Clinton and Obama need to obviously focus on each other right now. However, don’t think for a moment that this will bring out ALL of the necessary information that the public needs to focus on in order to make a solid decision in November.

Put another way, Obama is a mysterious and relatively unknown factor in politics. He is of course a first termer. He avoids the media like the plague, excepting softball shows like The View and other tabloid garbage that endears candidates to idiots but protects them from the serious scrutiny which can cause real political damage.

This long and drawn out primary is giving Obama “cover”. He is not being attacked by the right yet as that would show presumption as to who the nominee will be. Of course we know he will probably win, but at this time, McCain is taking the high road and letting the process continue on the left unchallenged for the most part.

By letting this process go until August, Obama and the Democrats may, then, be stumbling into an advantage that they have not perceived yet. Or, better put, those in the political world may be aware of this advantage, but the majority of the voting public are not.

Obama winning in a close contest at the Convention will be big news, and will draw huge media attention. But even more important to him is the fact that a shortened General is to his advantage. It gives the GOP less time to tear him down on inexperience, and expose his far far left leanings. Two months is not enough time to paint this man into a liberal box, not when you are having to contest the din of the wave of hype from the first black man ever to be nominated, in a close nail-biter that was just decided in August.

This wave of hype and short General just might make it impossible to make a common sense case against Obama, because much of America will be high on the concept that “A black man made it, we are vindicated for our prior sins now!!!”

Howard Dean, our friend…

With all of that said, Howard Dean just might be the GOP’s best ally right now. As screwed up and emotional as this man is, he might be right (for us anyway) to suggest this contest between Clinton and Obama should end sooner than later. He has suggested June, or July latest, in order to help his party. But I think it helps us more than it helps the Dems.

I am sure all of you conservatives will be thanking Howard Dean if he gets his way. Keep him and his wish in your prayers!

Is Obama’s Glass Half Full, or Empty? (He’s NOT Black)

Is Obama's Glass Half Full, or Empty? (He's NOT Black)

Geraldine Ferraro has really, unwittingly, put her foot in it.

In speaking of Obama recently, Ferraro stated that if Obama “was a white man he wouldn’t be in this position.” (See my article “Because he is Black” to see where I hit on this in a different, more direct way, long before Ferraro got into it.)

Now, while the rest of the world argues about what she meant, I will tell you the truth, and also perhaps make you think by asking you a question that nobody else is asking. But more on that later.

First off, I don’t particularly like Ferraro, but she is an honest intelligent woman, and a fierce political fighter. And anytime I can get honest from the left, I take it.

Secondly, Ferraro is anything but racist. I am certain that she meant something else altogether, and was trying to make a point that Obama’s rise in popularity has more to do with the hype of a black man running successfully for the nomination of a political party than it does with substance and experience. And being a woman who has run for one of the highest offices any woman has run for, she has some experience in understanding politics when it comes to bias and bigotry.

I then watched Obama on TV make an attempt at humor by stating that he was now going to “have some grits.” Most people might laugh, but my inner intellect was calculating and churning with a problem.

  1. WHY is so much being made of Barack Obama being the first black man to have so much success in politics, and…
  2. Why are people flocking to him under the hype of hope which is lofted by him being black and running freely and safely in a country that less than a hundred years ago lynched and burned blacks, and..
  3. WHY is he making jokes which allow him to get mileage from “being black”, especially when, he is… are you ready for this?

HALF WHITE?

I know that many people know this, but Obama’s mother is a white woman from Kansas.

What I think is puzzling is why a man who is very particular about how he communicates what, and clearly he is a man who holds strong opinions based on some kind of inner principle about being honest with his convictions- for example, not holding his hand over his heart during the pledge, or not wearing an American Flag lapel pin— why such a man would run as a “black”, and never make reference to the fact he is half white?

Wouldn’t this make sense for a man trying to “unite” people?

Something is not passing the smell test here. Is this not almost hypocritical to have a candidate that is partly propped up by being “black”, supported widely by blacks for BEING black, and then acting offended when someone makes some kind of comment about his blackness being part of the reason for being where is currently, while all the while he is half white?

Can you say “opportunist”?

This reminds me of women who will get mad at men who treat them like sex objects, all the while wearing short skirts and low cut blouses in the work place so they can use their sexuality like a tool, or even a weapon.

Is there not something creepily deceptive and disingenuous about running as a black man when you are just as much a “white man”? And, for those blacks who are voting for him because he is black, is there not something almost laughable about them uniting behind him so strongly?

What kind of Trojan Horse is this man?

Focus here, people. This situation says something about our country; it says something about the blacks who flock around a man who is half white and and running as a black; and it speaks about the character of the man himself.

This is unsettling to me. If it is not for you, I would suggest your threshold for irony is higher than mine.

Why Rove left the White House

Why Rove left the White House

If you want to create a reaction in a liberal akin to the hair raising on the back of a dog, you really only have to say a two words. Which words?

“Bush & Cheney” comes to mind. That oughta be enough to get the bile running. But that is not what I have in mind. “Facts and honesty” come to mind… but, well, one of those, let alone both, in the same sentence, for a liberal? Stephen King could not write a more terrifying single word for a liberal than “fact”, let alone using both “fact” AND “honesty” in the same sentence. Pelosi would shiver. Reid just might pee his pants. Or panties. I really wonder about that soft voice of his.

Another word they seem to keep in their toolbox is “unfair”. But I don’t have a second word to go with that, except “ACLU”.

No… the two words I am looking for are “Karl” and “Rove”. Terrifying.

You know, I bet if you ran an ad in a liberal town that Karl Rove was moving in that you would wind up with a spike in the sale of Depends brand adult diapers. I would not be surprised if local legislators tried to pass an ordinance that applied the same restrictions on Rove as they do on sex offenders. I can imagine that if Karl drove into a liberal town in a Camry, that there would be 47 new trade-in Camry’s in lots around town by the next weekend.

Karl Rove is kryptonite for liberals. Karl Rove might as well be Hitler, for some liberals. Salivation, rabid eyes, the sudden ability to cast more than one vote in elections… these are all manifestations of the left when the name “Rove” is involved. I have heard, and mind you, it is JUST a rumor… that DEAD people even rise to vote “Democrat” in places like Chicago, when Karl Rove is involved with the process. And while I can’t substantiate it, even dogs are registered to vote on the Democrat side- ALL because of the power of Karl Rove.

So- you can imagine the glee of the left when Karl left the White House. And the rumors flew. Most of them hilarious paranoid delusional affectations of inept liberal minds driven by emotion and hatred of “authority”.

Rumors like “He is leaving to protect himself or Bush from the Libby scandal!” Or, “He is going to leave the Country to protect Bush!” Or even “Bush is firing Rove to make him the scapegoat for “insert your complaint here”.”

As in most of the world of the irrational, none of this has come to pass. And, I have to say that not much of the media is reporting what I want to say about this. So I pride myself in pointing out (as I do from time to time) an original point of view, and an original take on the story-

“Why did Karl Rove leave the White House?”

Well, now, the real terror begins for the liberal.

While I could tease you with a paragraph or two talking about how Paul has some kind of great machination in mind, some elusive grand plan which includes Haliburton and Cheney and Enron execs… I will just tell you exactly why Rove left the White House. And this might be scarier to a liberal than anything else I could dream up:

He did it to help the GOP run their party nominee to the White House, no matter who it is.

Rove has been increasingly visible on TV. Obviously he is not running from the press. And he is not running from pontificating as to what is going on in the GOP primary process. Of course, at this point, he is not in the business of declaring a candidate for support. But nobody in the political world would be safe betting that this mechanic of the raceway of politics is not keeping his toolbox close for hire for a few pit stops of service for the next GOP nominee.

In the words of the little blond girl in Poltergeist… “They’re BAAaaaaaack…”

Rove was never gone. And Rove did not leave for the reasons that one might find on the internet “paranoia” sites of the left. Going into the final year or year and half, Rove was of little political use to G.W., and he is obviously of great use to the party outside of the White House. It is really not helpful for an adviser of Rove’s capability to be sitting in the advisory capacity he was to G.W., especially considering the tone in Washington, when he could be out on the road helping out the party when it comes to ‘08.

Rove left for one reason… to help tool the next GOP nominee, when we have one.

Liberals, be afraid.

Be very afraid.

The utterly BRILLIANT left wing ideologue scientist, Nobel winner, internet creator, and "Champion of the chad recount", Al Gore has once again wowed us with some more amazing feats of observation. Gore says the most recent Myanmar tragedy, Cyclone Nargis, which claimed 200,000 lives, was the result of Global Warming. Nice job, Nostradamus. This has brought on a chorus of rejection from scientists worldwide that claim that NO storm could be directly attributed to either the global warming phenom OR the science... neither of which could support Gore's claims. And this is supposed to be one of the left's "best". God help us. He could have been PRESIDENT.

The passing of Tim Russert brings to mind, for me, the importance of excellent journalism. Russert was one of the finest. While loving life, he would still grill your butt on anything that was the buzz... no free passes, and he understood that journalism was the 4th branch of the US democratic process. Our US political process and the field of Journalism will sorely miss Tim Russert.
  • The most stupidest dumbest ignorantest thang I have heard from the left lately...

Paul Begala, bomb throwing liberal pundit and talk show man, recently made clear what the left truly thinks. And remember, the "left" is supposed to be the party that blacks should love and vote for. Said Begala "We cannot win with egg heads and African-Americans. OK, that is the Dukakis Coalition, which carried ten states and gave us four years of the first George Bush." I totally agree by the way. You cannot win with only black Americans. You CAN win with only eggheads, though... This insinuation that African American support of Obama is the reason for Obama having ANY chance is correct. I think what Begala is saying is the same thing Clinton is saying, in a more veiled way. And I think what Begala is trying to say is "Obama is propped up by an African American vote- and that is IT. He cannot win without it." I agree... but I think it is a stupid to take that approach, or point out such a point of view, especially if you are a person from the party that claims (falsely) to represent the black community BEST.
