Some ironic observations surrounding the current mix of nominees…

A liberal black man runs for office with nearly no political background that is substantial enough to brag about. He runs on the premise of bringing “change” to Washington, then picks as his VP an “in-the-trench” lifetime, white, old boy network Senator (Biden) as his running mate.

McCain, with 20+ years experience in the Government appoints instead a female Governor with no ties to Washington, and relatively little experience.

Ironic that the nominee from the left picks a predictable establishment white man to represent his “change” and McCain picks a “minority”(politically, at least) who can act with freedom from lobbyists.

The left rants that Palin has no experience, or limited… too little, they say, to have her a heartbeat away from the White House. But wait a minute… they don’t apply that same logic to the man they want to put IN the White House. So in their minds, our VP pick doesn’t have enough experience to be President, but their pick FOR President? Well, he just oozes experience, right?

The Race/Woman Factor

This one is one of the most agonizingly painful abuses of logic I have heard or seen in some time. Ask any left/liberal partisan what they think about the suggestion that Hillary supporters that would be more “centrist” might flock to the McCain ticket because Governor Palin is a woman, and you will hear the following (I did)… “That is disturbing, offensive and degrading to suggest that women are so stupid or simple that they would just vote en masse for one of their own kind simply because she is one of their own kind…”

Here’s a note to you lefties- Obama’s support from blacks is 92%. Is it disturbing, offensive, and degrading to blacks (or even disturbing to the REST of us?) that they are voting in this manner for one of “their own” apparently because he is, simply, one of “them”?

I’ll let you all decide…

The Emperor and his Flip Flops

First term junior Senator Barack Obama seems to be fitting in quite nicely with the Washington crowd he so disdains, despite his claims to be different. Lapel flagpins, public financing, and now his stance on the Iraq War are all up susceptible to be “refined” as he sees fit, depending on what constituency hurdle he has either cleared, or needs to clear next.

In the last days, Obama went from proudly being the Senator who voted against the war and had promised to begin to end it starting his first day of office, to the Senator who said he would end it by 2009, to the Senator who then said within 16 months, to now… where he has firmly landed on the solid position of going to Iraq for the first time, and then, listening to the opinions of the commanders on the ground so we do not hastily leave a vacuum.

Mind you, he is STILL committed to “ending the war”. Last I checked, every candidate wants to end the war. The question always has been how, under what terms, and what risk to the future of this country and Iraq/the middle east.

So now Obama is going to go get edu-macated on the ground over there, and get some perspective that apparently seems to have been lacking when he harped to the left that he would just jump the hell out of Iraq right off when elected. The far left loved that, but now Obama knows he can’t win with either that stance, or simply the far left.

The recent successes in Iraq are the Achilles heel of such a far left stance.

I had thought all this time Obama was a man of principle, or at least played one on TV. Of course I jest, and have known better all along. But how the left can consider this man to be what he has claimd all along is beyond me, as he changes positions more than a baby in the womb.

The general election is a perfect machine for making immortal hype-based unproven inexperienced grassroots superheroes into mere mortal politicians grasping for ways to appeal to the necessary voters.

And Obama is not only on his way, he has finally arrived…

Bob Barr Shows his Arrogance

Well, we may have just what we need to insure that Obama-lama-ding dong and wife get into office. Our own version of Ralph Nader, Bob Barr.

Most of us remember Barr for his intense attacks on Bill Clinton in the Lewinsky trial. While we might have enjoyed his watchdog approach on that class A-1 a-hole, I have to say that even then I had concerns that he was a little too “dogged” in his pursuit… just a liiiiiiiittle too overzealous.

Well, it turns out Barr has a lot in common with other village idiots that don’t understand that in a two party system, indy candidates KILL real candidates. Nader and Perot come to mind. At least Perot was a viable contender though. Nader and Barr are nothing more than nuisances that undermine the ability of a majority of a party to control the destiny of the party.

Said Barr on Geraldo- paraphrasing- “Nobody is talking about anything of substance, and that is what I intend to bring to the table.”

“Um- idiot? The time for you to try to sway people into believing that YOUR ideas of “substance” have any substance capable of sustaining a Presidential bid has already come and gone. We call it a “primary”, you arrogant ass.”

Perhaps Barr will find a sword to fall on… I predict that pressure from the party will send him packing. If it doesn’t, I will be happy to go buy him a sword. Maybe we can find a drunk bus driver or a poorly maintained plane to donate to his “campaign”.

2008 is another example of how the party is not united enough to defeat the machine that is building on the Democrat side…

So what happened to the 2008 Republican primary? First, there was no clear conservative candidate. Secondly, the liberals and neutrals (Fox News, is fair and balanced) controlled the debates, and thirdly, open primaries, where Democrats can choose our candidate, although this was not the most significant factor. Regardless, we conservatives just got totally owned.

First a historical perspective. How well did conservatives do in the 20th century Presidential elections? From William McKinley to Bill Clinton there is only three solid conservatives… Ronald Reagan, Calvin Coolidge, and maybe Warren G. Harding (yeah I know), out of 18 presidents. It looks like conservatives drop the ball five times out of six.

So, we need to get our act together and become serious about electing a conservatives or we are going to fail five times out of six as we just did. That brings about the solutions section…

Our first failure was

Now, keep in mind that after weeks of intense pressure, Obama just now left his church, Trinity United. I could spend about 10 minutes of your time making you read all the crap that Obama’s church pastors (several pastors, now) have spewed, but I won’t. Anyone who is paying attention has heard the vile political rants that erupt from those pulpits.

And remember, it took him 20 years to leave this church. But you will always know what he thinks and where he stands… Ya sure, you betcha.

What I would rather tell you is this- and keep in mind the quote up top from Obama.

Obama has no cajones, and is a fake. He is not a man, but he plays one on TV. “I will always tell you what I think” and “I will always tell you where I stand” could and should be followed up with “after I have enjoyed 20 years of political advantage of being associated with a racist church” or “after being pressed by the press and the public to the point that I can no longer ignore the point as it is damaging to my political goals…”

Also keep in mind that Obama said he could no more disown Wright or the Church than he could the black community. He just kicked Wright and the Church to the curb… because he knows now, after weeks of seeing his support NOT wane in the BLACK community, while at the same time seeing that his support among blue collar whites has tanked, that he has the black vote in his back pocket like the deeds to slaves. He has nothing to worry about.

So now it is time to try to prove to the white voter, or the gun clinging voter, or the bible clinging voter, or the blue collar voter, that he is a man.

As for the last comment in his quote, the biggest challenge this nation faces right now is Barrack Hussein Obama.

No sir, you won’t be a perfect President. But the best solution for that is for you to never BE President.
