And Doggone it, People Like me…

And Doggone it, People Like me...

It is hard to believe our society can produce people who would honestly find that someone like Al Franken should ever be considered a serious political candidate. But considering he is attempting to run for Senator (Federal level) in the same State that elected Jesse Ventura Governor, the next words should be “Go Figure…” (Ed: The harsh winter cold numbs the mind, and the dancing Northern Lights hypnotize…)

The only State I can think of that might have a more illustrious and colorful political history of misfits might be California.

I mean, on the one hand, it is a testament to our society that we can consider so many different kinds of people from so many different walks of life. But, at the same time, I don’t want child molesters running daycares, dishonest people running banks, and I certainly don’t want career political satirists and partisan comedic hacks in my government.

Al Franken has made a career of being a very polarizing figure, to say the least. He is also one of those whom I detest for not making any kind of serious political move until well into the waning period of his career. Much like J.K. Rowling waited until after her last book was released to make a stupid comment about some irrelevant position like “Dumbledore is Gay”, I find moves like that and Franken’s into politics one of economic convenience. Essentially, what I am saying is, these hypocrites knew not to make their “stands” until they had no more potential to damage their “careers”. These are certainly not the actions of a person who is solidly emphatic and passionate about their beliefs. People who feel that way don’t wait until it is “convenient”.

There are plenty of other reasons to detest someone like Franken, but let’s just focus on this point- anyone who made a career of mocking people’s beliefs has no place in politics, if we want this Country to move past the partisan state it is currently in.

While I don’t think that the far left has reconciliation on their minds, I do think it is worth pointing out that the rest of us (Republican and Democrat) deserve better candidates than he. I have said many times that the far left would vote for my dog if I tattooed a big “D” on his butt. Al Franken is an example of that mindless partisanship, as well as an example of the far left hijacking of the Democrat party by the likes of Soros and Hollywood.

The political environment we have in this Country right now is sadly pathetic in many ways. Having people like Franken involved, let alone having him win, would be another drop of poison into the psyche of the electorate. In the world of common sense, I wouldn’t give Franken any more chance of winning than I do right now for Paul to win the GOP nomination, or for Hillary to ask Obama to be her running mate (or vice versa). But, in the world of the far left, I can assure you common sense takes second or third seat to a rabid zeal to win at any and all costs.

If the Democrats wind up putting this guy on the ballot (still in primary status) then that is just one more example of how far we have to go to get this Country headed back in the direction of the more sensible electorate out there. An election of Al Franken would be nothing more than a symbolic result of some on the far left throwing a tantrum. And the result of that kind of election will be likely to turn more people off from even being involved in the farce that is becoming our political process.

Al Franken should stick with what he knows best- a behind the scenes comedy writer, and former partisan hack/talk show host of a wholly subsidized yet bankrupt Air America.

That is what the Democratic Party has become in recent years - or decades. The typical Democratic voter on the street, and perhaps those who get elected to local offices, isn’t a total reflection of those who get elected to state and federal level offices, the latter group I have less or no respect for. But the bigger idiots are those of the left who don’t get elected to and/or don’t run for public offices, and those include the Michael Moores and Rosie O’Donnells. But now we have Al Franken, in that last category, now running for the Senate, and yes, just put a D label on him, and many idiots will vote for him.
